What the hell is a Flix?

FLIX bv was started in 1999 when founder Felix Serwir was still studying 2D animation.

in the early stages Felix was mainly focused with FLIX on everything 2D / 3D animation, audio recording, storyboarding, concept art, illustration and compositing for advertisement, game industry, film and television.

from 2010 onward Felix Serwir completely moved to feature film compositing, working on a wide range of movies going from big budget Hollywood productions to low budget independent shorts and films.

Is it a one-man band?

No, since 2015 Felix Serwir teamed up with partner Sophie Luto starting to take on all sorts of vfx jobs remotely. We spent some time building the FLIX office infrastructure and pipeline so we would be able to handle larger work and get more remote work. Before Covid-19 this was still a challenge as not everybody seemed on board with this way of working.

In 2018 FLIX became a satellite VFX studio for Thijs Hasselman’s INBLIK to collaborate on ‘Yummy‘. We had similar ideas and worked well together. Our pipelines soon merged to the point where we can function as one studio if needed. We also have the ability to easily scale up for larger projects, if the core team is too small to handle the load.

As not every project requires VFX, we are able to disconnect to reduce overhead costs and move on to collaborate with other companies or projects.

This way of working gives us the freedom to have a new experiences working on other vfx productions of all scales. When a new project comes up at INBLIK, the team can immediately click back together and apply that gained knowledge to make the impossible possible again.
